We made it and conctrary to the title, there were no problems- which is why the title is what it is.
Our flights were on time, no airline issues (other than ones my travel agent will here about since they were due to their process). We arrived in Guatemala at 8:25 pm. Bug was watching out the window saying: "Momma, the city, the city!!!!!". I started crying then. He was not anxious about arriving, he was excited. Now he did comment that the city was missing pieces as we flew over dark spots but we all laughed. He also commented that everyone had their christmas lights up and how beautiful it looked. My thoughts exactly as I fly into cities at night, all the street lights and lamp lights look like Christmas lights.
The new airport in GC is FANTASTIC!!!!! We were last here before the new section opened and the difference is incredible. Our shuttle was nto waiting, but as always the porters at the airport stood with us and mande sure that our hotel knew we were waiting. Our shuttle arrived 10 minutes later- they had been taking other passengers to the hotel. We had a wonderful 5 minute drive to the hotel.
As we walked into the hotel lobby, Bug looked up at me and said "Momma did you visit me here when I was little?". It is amazing what our children remember and so overwhelming to know that he did remember the last trip at least. My heart skipped a beat hoping he would not focus on the loss of that trip and instead focus on seeing friends and family again.
We got to bed well after midnight as the entire skyline was filled with fireworks from about 11:30 until 1 am. Bug and I sat in the window and watched the fireworks for 30 minutes- so incredible and awesome to see a skyline and the entire horizon filled.
Day 1 in reverse:
Lunch at Donald's- Los Ninos- karla, Andrea, Susi and Nene. The girls played with Bug for 2 hours straight at Donald's- Karla was the picture taker and she did not fail her job. Bug finally started talking to everyone while we were at lunch.
Andrea was Bug's favorite today.
Hugs for Mireya
