Day 4 in Guatemala- IRTRA and an unbelievable gift

Yesterday the fmaily invited us to IRTRA- the local amusement park, zoo and pool all in combination. This was a great chance to go back to a park that Bug had been to with the family, so we accepted the invitiation. The pictures are in reverse order of our day.

This is Bug, with no nap, at a 3 pm- 6 hours in the park, going the entire time. we found these rides last and they were Bug's favorite. he rode the train, the race car, and the police car and then cried when he could not ride the firetruck becuase we had no more tickets for him.
Riding the motos- he was in heaven.

Having a great time.

The other motos- I ran over and bought him a tiger as we had just finished playing games and he had not won anything. So he got a tiger for being the fastest moto rider in the park

Our first time having Pollo Campero- YUMM

On the train: Mam (green shirt), Alec (novio de Susy), Andrea

Mireya, Carlos y Karla

Flying the planes. I was so worried that Bug would freak out on this ride since he had to go by himself. But he was loving it. Before we found the motos, this was his favorite ride.

My high flying boy

On the horse

Happy to be riding.

There is a zoo like area- lots of peacocks everywhere.

After walking through the zoo area- we went swimming. The pool was huge and cold. Bug sat on the side, shivering and refusing to play in the water. The lines for the locker room were huge and a bit overwhelming. We should have gone to the pool first thing instead of playing (another post).

Riding Santa's reindeer

Sitting in Santa's sleigh

Making sure that Alec is behind us on his moto

Sitting on Alec's moto at the hotel. A bug surprise for us.

Alec arrives and sees Nene. When Bug first came home, he would see motos on the street and say "AYA". After a call to Mireya, we found out he was saying ALEC. So exciting to meet Alec in person. He is a wonderful young man.

As full as this day was, it got even better. Carlos and the family invited us back to their house!!!! I never thought we would be able to see the house, they do live in an area with a bad reputation and Mireya had told me before that it was too dangerous for us to come their house. Of course, I accepted the invitation on the spot. It was a dream come true to see where Nene grew up for 21.5 months.
The drive took about 15-20 minutes from IRTRA and we spent about 1-2 hours at the house. I was able to take pictures and watch Bug play in the house. It was so incredible- words can not explain how much the visit to the house meant to me.
Love to you,
Deb

Wow - how awesome!!! I am so happy you got this special present. I know it would be neat to see where our kids spent so much of their early life I'm sure these memories are priceless for you and Bug too.

Glad to hear that you are having such a good time in Guatemala. I've been praying for you and can see how God is blessing your time there!
